That is a really difficult question! It totally depends on what type of science you enjoy, what interests you within that subject, whether you like lab work or computing or working outside… I don’t think there’s a general answer!

For me, I enjoy hands on work, physics and chemistry, can’t handle anything blood and gore related but want to help people, and like using technology but not developing computer programs myself. So what I do at the moment is pretty perfect for me. If I had to choose another science job, I’d work in Formula 1 – a very different application of my education but still awesome.

Good question! As corny as it sounds, the great thing about science is that it’s absolutely everywhere you go, so there are loads of different interesting jobs to do. You could be a doctor, teacher, engineer, work in a research lab for a big company, work for the police or government, or even write articles for science magazines! I guess the “best” science job is a totally down to what you prefer doing and what interests you the most.

I reckon some of the best jobs are where you can use your science knowledge to help the community. After my degree I’d love to be a forensic scientist. They use different chemistry lab techniques to solve crimes and hopefully catch criminals!

In my opinion the best job in science would be astronaut!

But there are many different jobs that include science … for example many people who do physics end up as bankers because it requires similar skills.

I like doing research, so finding out new things, presenting my results – full on science all the time, although this can be a little intense.

It is a very nice question but the answer is not as easy !
Many jobs involve science or are related to science.
You can teach science, try to make discoveries in science (as we do) or directly apply science to different fields.
Some of the science fields can be related to medicine, some to engineering or even to space.
It depends on what you mostly like doing and what inspires and stimulates your interests.
I really like my field because it is a combination of lab work as well as computer processing. A
good mix with applications to medicine.

      Well that all depends…

My answer is biased, but I would say the best job that includes science is one that fun and challenging. Which for me, would be a position in Academia – a job at a University as a Lecturer/Professor. As a academic you get to decide what science you get to work on, teach the next generation of scientists and still have some time leftover to enjoy life!

Of course there are many many other science jobs out there and working for a private company is likely going to be more profitable. Just remember that the best job will be the one that you will want to show up to everyday!
